Shah Alam’s chess is run by clubs, each with a series of its own. Young Chess Masters plays at the Kemuncak Club House in Seksyen 9, with a junior tournament and a monthly medal series for younger players. Kelab Catur Melati numbers its KCM Master FIDE-rated classicals, one of them played at Nexus Hotel Shah Alam, and has added a junior event at M3 Mall in Gombak Setia.
The Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at UiTM organised open and under-15 tournaments in January and June 2026, and the chess club of SK Bukit Kemuning (2) holds a numbered under-1800 classical, its fifth edition dated March 2026.
