More about this list
Around Kuala Lumpur a game over the board nearly always comes with a tournament entry. Shopping malls are the main playing halls: weekend rapids fill atriums and food courts from Quill City and KL Gateway in the city to Summit USJ, Seventeen Mall, Centro Mall in Klang and DPulze in Cyberjaya. Academies and clubs with rooms of their own, such as KL Chess Academy, Chess Hub in Ampang and the federation office in Seri Kembangan, host rated weekends, and the International Youth Centre in Cheras has staged national team championships.
Casual play is the thin part of the list. The one standing meetup found is the Blitz Chess Meet Friends social club, which plays on Saturday afternoons in Petaling Jaya and tells people who ask where it currently meets. Campus clubs and Kelab Kilat Kuala Lumpur hold championships but publish no regular open evening, so for most players the way in is a weekend event booked through the organiser named on its card.
